Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

June, 2015

External Celebration of Corpus Christi

Sunday, June 7th 2015

Due to the weather this year, the procession took place within the Chapel building and two altars were provided for the faithful to adore Our Lord and have Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, prior to the return to the main altar:

Blessed and praised every moment

Be the most holy and divine Sacrament.

- Benediction at the 3rd altar in the St. Francis Hall -

COLONEL ROMAN GOLASH (retired)

--visits the Chapel

Recently the Chapel was honored with the presence of Colonel Roman Golash, (retired). The Colonel spoke and offered a power-point presentation so as to acquaint members of the Sodality and their friends with a history of the problems in the Middle East. A Question & Answer period followed. More than a few were surprised to learn of the level of persecution of Christians in the Middle East, especially the Copts who are ancient communities that reside in Egypt.

After his timely presentation and in appreciation for his dedicated efforts, Roman received several gifts from Fr. Brown the Chaplain of the Sodality of Our Lady. The several items presented were not only in appreciation for his visit and taking the time to provide an education on matters that impact the world, but also to encourage him in his work and efforts. Presented were a blessed Eastern Icon of Our Lord, and two books: one on the history of the Crusades written by a noted historian, and another which answered many old calumnies directed against the Catholic Church, especially her role in history.

We hope to have Colonel Roman

visit us again soon!

"Blessing of Baptismal Water"

"May the power of the Holy Ghost come down into this full font"

This is the most solemn rite of the blessing. It is an impressive sign of Christ (the Easter Candle) through His Holy Spirit conferring the power of sanctifying to the baptismal water. Three times the rite is repeated, by way of emphasis. To underscore still more the sign of the Spirit's sanctifying operation, the priest (seen above) breathes three times upon the water, down the center, to the left and to the right (over the whole expanse of water) and sings: Totamque huis aquae substaniam, regenerandi fecundet effectu.

"And may He make the whole substance of this water pregnant with power to regenerate...Here may every stain of sin be washed away; here may that nature created to thine image and remade to its Maker's honor be cleansed from all its former squalor. May every man who enters this sacrament of regeneration be born again in a new childhood of true innocence."

Who could fail to see the dogmatic significance of these prayers? Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Chapel defends the traditional Holy Mass and Rites of the Roman Catholic Church not merely for the sake of "tradition" but for the doctrine that is wonderfully contained in the prayers of the Liturgy of the Church. Catholic prayers always say something Catholic.
